Welcome to the Home Economics Department
The Home Economics team provides pupils with a variety of interesting courses that develop skills which contribute positively to learning, life and work. We provide courses for all levels of ability from S1 to S6.
We endeavour to create a positive and enjoyable environment in which pupils at all stages can enjoy both practical and theoretical classes.
Courses are designed to challenge all pupils, as it is very important to us that every pupil is given the opportunity to achieve his or her full potential.
Staff use a combination of observation and written and practical assessments as a basis to feed forward progress and to ensure challenge and enjoyment.
HE in the BGE
In S1-S3 we offer the BGE covering a wide variety of outcomes and experiences within the context of health and wellbeing and technologies.

Homework
Homework is given on a regular basis depending on the year group and is used to reinforce classwork or to revise topics.
Container Policy
Information for pupils and parents
To continue our effort to reduce our impact on the environment and our carbon footprint, we strongly encourage pupils to bring a reusable container to take home their home economics cookery.
If any pupil does not have a reusable container, we will issue a suitable one. It will then be their responsibility to take this home, reuse it and bring it back to school for each practical cookery lesson.
If a pupil continuously comes to practical lessons unprepared, this will be recorded on tracking reports as non completion of homework.
All dates for cooking are told in advance to pupils in class, usually posted on our faculty Twitter and also available on google classroom.
