Welcome to the Biology Department

The Biology course aims to generate and develop learners’ interest, curiosity and enthusiasm for Biology and its impact on today’s society.

Through the study of Biology, within a relevant and modern context, learners will gain knowledge and understanding of the natural world including sustainability, health and how our body works. Through challenging experimental work pupils will develop skills of scientific inquiry, research, problem solving and thinking critically.

Biology in S3

Pupils have the opportunity to choose Biology during the S2 options process, for study in S3.

The S3 course sets the foundation for the Senior Phase courses we offer from S4-6.

In S4-6, pupils have options to choose from, which provide a natural progression in the subject.

Higher Human Biology
Advanced Higher Biology
